🌆 A Glimpse of Old Dubai

This morning, we explored Dubai’s Old Town—so different from the glitzy modern skyline. The streets were narrower, the buildings more humble, and the atmosphere brimming with daily life. Small supermarkets and clothing shops lined the way, and locals went about their day casually. It felt intimate, textured, and full of soul.

🕌 A Powerful Cultural Encounter

While strolling through one of the alleys, we saw a large group of men seated quietly on small mats outside a shop. Suddenly, a prayer chant came through the speakers on the street, and in unison, everyone knelt down to pray. We were speechless. As we continued walking, we saw several similar scenes throughout the neighborhood. It was a deeply humbling experience—a moment of cultural awe.

💰 Gold Souk: A Sparkling Tradition

Our steps brought us to the famous Gold Souk. On both sides of the narrow alleys, gold shops gleamed with elaborate displays. Some showcased traditional Arabian designs; others featured Western styles. One shop even displayed an entire vest made of gold—detailed, exquisite, and almost surreal.

🌶️ Fragrance of the East: Spice Souk

Just a few steps away was the Spice Souk. Historically, the spice trade helped this region flourish. Among all the spices, frankincense stood out. Derived from the bark of Boswellia trees, frankincense has been used in religious rituals, medicine, and perfumes. It’s believed to aid digestion, reduce inflammation, and calm anxiety.

🚤 A Breezy Detour: Jumeirah Fishing Harbor

Afterwards, we drove to Jumeirah Fishing Harbor and the nearby beach. It was a sunny day, and we had a clear view of Dubai’s most iconic landmark—the Burj Al Arab. The water sparkled, the skyline stood proud, and the photo opportunities were fantastic.

🌊 Serenity on the Sand

On the beach, locals and tourists basked in the sun, enjoying a peaceful afternoon. There was laughter, quiet conversations, and the soothing sound of the waves—a beautiful contrast to the bustling city we had just explored.

🏛️ The Museum of the Future: Dubai's Bold Vision

Our final destination today was one of Dubai’s most famous attractions: the Museum of the Future. I had booked the tickets two weeks in advance, and even then, the only available time slot was this evening. So yes—plan early if you want to visit!

🥗 A Futuristic Dinner

We opted for dinner at the museum’s cafe. Surprisingly, prices were reasonable—unlike most tourist attractions. The space felt sleek and modern, yet cozy.

🚀 Welcome to 2071

From the moment we stepped inside, we were amazed by the architecture—especially the glowing elevator and curving ceiling. We couldn’t resist taking videos. A curious crowd gathered near a small robot called Alpha Go, which moved intelligently among visitors. It was charming to watch.

🛰️ Space Station OSS Hope

We entered through the main gates and were soon ushered into a simulation experience—boarding a “space elevator” to OSS Hope, a futuristic space station imagined to exist in 2071. From the ship’s windows, we gazed down at planet Earth—an immersive, thrilling moment.

🌌 Immersive Exploration & Mars

Recruitment Inside, interactive exhibits and futuristic rooms opened our minds to scientific possibilities. I even joined a simulated recruitment process and was “hired” as a Mars ambassador! A fun and imaginative activity.

🚁 Flying Taxis by 2026?

As we passed a display in the Museum of the Future, a staff member excitedly pointed to a screen and told us that Dubai plans to launch flying taxis by 2026. I was completely amazed—just imagining a skyline dotted with flying vehicles felt like stepping into a sci-fi movie. It’s bold, ambitious, and yet so fitting for a city like Dubai, where futuristic dreams are often turned into reality.

🌀 Into The Void

One section of the museum was labeled simply “The Void.” Curious, we climbed the stairs. Cool air gently brushed our faces, and as we reached the top, we realized—we were inside the hollow core of the building. Looking out through the oval window, Dubai’s night skyline sparkled before us.

📸 Capturing the Magic

As we admired the view, a woman from Southeast Asia approached and offered to take a photo of us. She knelt slightly, tilted the camera upward, and in that single shot, captured us with the illuminated skyline perfectly behind. That moment felt symbolic—travel is about discovering beauty, embracing differences, and meeting kind strangers.
